1. Tips To Soothe Dry Itchy Skin – Get A Humidifier

One of the best tips to soothe dry itchy skin is to invest in a humidifier. This is especially important if your house suffers from dry air. This could be due to poor air circulation or the type of heating you’re using. In my case, we’ve been relying on electric heaters a lot. And this has been drying out our air tremendously. So to combat this issue, we’ve got amazing humidifiers pumping out air all day long. And it’s definitely helped to bump up the humidity in our house. So I can attest that getting a humidifier can be a good investment on your part. We got a great one from Air Innovations that has awesome settings and can last all day long with only one refill.

2. Tips To Soothe Dry Itchy Skin – Bring In Some House Plants

Another natural way to increase humidity in your house is by bringing some houseplants. There are a number of awesome plants that are known to be great for humidity. They are: English Ivy, Peace Lily, Rubber Plant, Spider Plant, and Areca Palm to name a few. Most of them also remove a lot of pollutants that can be found in the air and around in your house. So I’ve taken a trip to my local greenhouse and picked up a few of these amazing green babies. They’ve already acclimatized themselves to the new surroundings and are thriving fabulously. And bonus, they make my house look so much prettier.

3. Tips To Soothe Dry Itchy Skin – Install A Shower Filter

My skin is so incredibly dry and sensitive especially during the cold winter months. Itchiness can also flare up right after taking the shower. This can be caused by extremely hard water. I’ve been experiencing this issue for quite some time. So I decided to try using a shower filter that softens the hard water and also gets rid of a lot of skin-irritating chemicals. Over the years I’ve tried numerous shower filters and I’ve settled upon Aquasmart. It seems to do the best job and also lasts the longest. And it removes 95% of chlorine and most heavy metals. So it’s great value for your buck.

4. Tips To Soothe Dry Itchy Skin – Use A Good Skin Moisturizer

When you get out of the shower and your skin is still damp, make sure you put on a good skin moisturizer. It will help your skin lock-in moisture and keep it from drying out. This is another way to combat the seasonal drying out of the skin and prevent itchiness. I’ve tried a ton of products and have settled upon an awesome skin conditioner from Thentix. Thentix is a line of honey-based products that don’t contain any harsh chemicals or preservatives. I really love this Canadian company and I have featured them in my article where I discussed all my favorite Canadian all-natural skincare brands.

5. Tips To Soothe Dry Itchy Skin – Don’t Forget Your Lips

Your lips go through a lot throughout the day. From eating to drinking to being out in the cold air. It can all have a negative effect on the delicate skin on your lips. So make sure you use a really nourishing lip moisturizer at least a few times during the day. I really love my Thentix lip balm that keeps my lips from drying out and getting chapped. It comes with a pleasant citrusy scent and that signature honey flavor.

6. Tips To Soothe Dry Itchy Skin – Treat Your Hair And Scalp With Care

Another area of the body that can really suffer during the dry, cold season is your hair. My scalp especially gets super dry and itchy. I try to wash my hair every other or third day as not to strip away its natural oils. But even that may not always do the trick. So I opted to find a great all-natural shampoo and conditioner that will clean my hair but also leave it soft and silky without using harsh chemicals and additives.

That’s why I was so excited when Thentix sent me their new hair care line to try out and I have immediately fallen in love with it. And I wanted to share it with you, my lovely readers. I feel that in addition to cleaning my hair well it also makes it very easy to brush afterward. Which has always been a problem of mine having fine and brittle color-treated hair. But no matter what your hair type, this line should work well for you.
