You might be thinking summer is almost over why am I writing about summer dress ideas? Well, that’s because right now, most stores are selling off their summer inventory to make room for their incoming fall wardrobe. Why not stock up on some great items for next summer? Everybody loves a good bargain on a new dress, and is looking for ways to save money. I’d love to share my favorite summer dress styles you can look for while going through the sale racks.
Summer Dress Ideas Trend #1 – Tie-Dye Style
Unique tie-dye style dresses are hard to find but do pop up when you least expect it. I was able to find this amazing full-length brown dress at a local street vendor. What I absolutely love about this dress is the fact that it feels so comfortable. The material is real soft and feels very good against my skin; I could literally sleep in it. Usually, I don’t buy dresses in this length because I’m petite but I found this dress too irresistible to pass it up.
Even though a certain style or length of a dress is not what you normally go for, feel free to try it on anyway. You might be pleasantly surprised as I was when I tried on this dress. The fit was absolutely perfect and I didn’t mind the length after all. This dress was made in Thailand and I love how it evokes that cool island vibe.

Summer Dress Ideas Trend #2 – Mod Style
Similar to the tie-dye dress, I found these two mod style dresses at the same vendor. Sometimes you can get lucky and find a great store with very unique items. Unfortunately because of construction on Toronto’s Queen Street West this vendor is no longer there. If anybody knows their new location please let me know. I would love to keep supporting them because all the clothing I bought there have been fantastic. These days it’s very hard to find a good quality product at equally reasonable prices.
I found these Mod Style dresses at a variety of retailers
Summer Dress Ideas Trend #3 – Stripes Style
Sometimes you can be hesitant about a particular style because you’re not used to it. I was unsure about buying this beautiful A-line dress at Suzy Shier because I don’t usually buy this type of dresses. But after trying it on I found that I really loved how it looked on me. I also haven’t had a striped dress in a while so this was a perfect one to get. Depending on your body type you can opt for vertical or horizontal stripes. Vertical stripes can elongate your silhouette vs. horizontal stripes which can bring attention to the girth of your middle section. So you have to try the dress on to see what style works best for your shape.
How about these awesome striped dress alternatives?

Summer Dress Ideas Trend #4 – White Style
Summer is the perfect time to bring out all your white outfits especially summer dresses. It’s always a gamble to wear white in the winter when the weather is so unpredictable. I found this cute white dress in a small shop here in Toronto and I love how feminine it is. Usually, I opt for more edgy dresses but sometimes a cute dress can bring out the girl in all of us. A beautiful dress like this can easily be paired with a light cardigan for that extra coverage on a chiller summer night.

Summer Dress Ideas Trend #5 – Metallic Style
This was my birthday dress this year and believe it or not, I found it on the sales rack at H&M for only $10. Seriously, what a bargain that was!!! This dress is not only beautiful but also very comfortable. You can easily wear it loose or pair it with a trendy belt for a different look. It was the perfect fun dress to wear on my birthday. Imagine lounging in this type of dress sipping cocktails and hanging out with your loved ones on your special day.

Summer Dress Ideas Trend #6 – Bold Color Style
Don’t be afraid to go for a bold color summer dress style. I usually stay away from very bright colors but when I saw this blue turquoise dress at Express I knew I had to try it. What also attracted me to this dress was the beautiful back straps. Who doesn’t want to show off a gorgeous back, right ladies? This dress has been on a heavy rotation for me for the past 2 years and I can’t stop wearing it. It makes me feel so light and breezy and that’s the best summer vibe I look for in a dress. I wore this dress to a recent event at the St. Lawrence Market called Summer Series which took place on the St. Lawrence Market patio. It was the perfect summer event with great food, drinks and entertainment. Check out my review of it here!

Summer Dress Ideas Trend #7 – Animal Print Style
Animal print is another sure fire summer dress idea. Whether you’re a Leo like me and want to bring out your inner animal or you’re just attracted to animal prints this is a great style to try out. Show your wild side with a fun dress in either bold animal print or more subdued shade like this brown/black number I found a few years ago. This dress pairs perfectly with some metallic shoes and a tribal or earthy tones necklace such as the one I’m wearing.

Here are my ideas for the perfect summer dress. I hope you go out there and take advantage of the summer sales before they’re over. I’m sad that summer is coming to an end because I’m a total beach babe. But I’m definitely looking forward to next summer so I can bring out these dresses again.
