St Lawrence Market Summer Series Event 2017

A few weeks ago on July 20th, I had the pleasure of attending one of the summer events in the city of Toronto, the St Lawrence Market Summer Series Event. This was the first of two events scheduled for this summer. The second installment takes place on Thursday, August 24. This is also the second year this event has taken place. I didn’t attend last year’s event so I can’t comment on how it went but this one was a total blast. It was also my first official media pass for my blog so I was able to attend the event for free using my media pass. Which made it even more exciting for me!!!

I was also able to bring a plus one with me and I decided to make it a girl’s nite out and invited my mom to come along. Since I started blogging I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t had much time to spend with my mom and I was more than happy to bring her with me to this event. Thank you so much to the St Lawrence Market Summer Series Event organizers for extending me the opportunity to attend this awesome event. If you’d like me to attend one of your events and write about my experience on the blog do not hesitate to contact me via the contact form here.

The Weather

I have to say the beginning of the day didn’t start out that promising as it was raining cats and dogs that morning. I’m sure all the event organizers were in a panic because of that. But the weather gods finally smiled when all the rain went away and the sun came out in the afternoon putting the event right back on track. I’m sure not only the attendees but also the organizers breathed a sight of relief at that. After that the weather was absolutely perfect. It was hot enough that I got to wear my favorite summer dress and spending an evening at a patio event made it the best summer night! And check out these amazing pictures!!!

The Food

My media pass allowed me a few free meal and drink tickets so I was able to try out some of the amazing treats being served up by local Toronto food vendors. And who can say no to that? Not me!!!

Let’s start off with the food items prepared by The Food Dudes:

Banquet Burger

This was a delicious Brown Brothers Meats prime beef burger with Olympic Cheese sharp cheddar, jalapeno bacon jam, iceberg lettuce, pickled onion, special sauce and Kozlik’s Canadian Mustard my favorite mustard and bonus it’s a Canadian made product as well. This burger definitely didn’t disappoint and delivered a great flavor combination due to all the above-mentioned quality ingredients.

Buffalo Cauliflower

A tasty fried cauliflower with buffalo tahini, pickled carrot & celery, black sesame, mint scallions and fresh produce from Urban Fresh Produce. This cauliflower was reminiscent of curried cauliflower with a fresh minty aftertaste.

Oli’s Froyo

This was a zesty grapefruit vanilla frozen yogurt, grapefruit caramel, and shortbread crumble with fresh dairy from Sheldon Creek Dairy and grapefruit from Ponesse Foods. This dessert was the perfect finish to the evening of great eats.

Now onto the St. Lawrence Market merchant prepared items:

A culinary surprise of Scheffler’s Delicatessen & Cheese barbecued pizza featuring Black Cow cheddar. This was a tasty pizza bite with a great cheese flavor. And best of all it came with a free sample of Black Cow vodka cocktails. I opted for my favorite Walter Ceasar Mix and my mom opted for a refreshing cucumber drink. What I love about Walter Ceasar mix is that it’s a healthy alternative to the widely available Ceasar mixes out there. I got introduced to it a while ago when I tried it at The National Women’s Show and I’ve been loving it ever since.

We really enjoyed the Everyday Gourmet Coffee Roasters “The Founder” iced latte with Hennessey & Coffee Liquer. They also served hot & iced espresso based beverages. We couldn’t resist trying The Founder as both my mom and I enjoy coffee flavored drinks and it tasted great. The only problem was that the coffee kept us up until the wee hours of the night. Oh well, it’s the price we paid to taste something so good.

The Entertainment

It was really beautiful to see all the talented artistic expression these artists offered to the event attendees. It created a perfect ambiance for exploring the St Lawrence Market patio while watching different performances and listening to a variety of music acts.

My Impression of the St Lawrence Market Summer Series Event

Overall I was really impressed with this year’s event. I give props to all the organizers who put this great event together. It was well run and everybody was happy to be there. It was truly a perfect summer patio event. I haven’t attended anything like this at the St Lawrence Market and it was a treat to be there. I’m already a fan of the market as I have visited it frequently when I worked in the area and it was great to see a lot of my favorite vendors participating in this type of summer event.

I found the food selection to be very interesting as well as all the performances. It was a fun night to be out in the city, enjoying perfect weather, chatting with people, having great food and watching and listening to great live and dj provided music. I think there was enough variety to satisfy different tastes both in food and in entertainment. My mom and I both had a great time and I definitely recommend this event to anyone who wants a great Toronto summer night on a patio.

Looks like quite an amazing event. Entertainment, art and OMG, that food. The only downside of these kinds of things is that you have to choose and you can’t simply eat everything . . . well . . . you can give it a good go though. Loved the Hennessy coffee!

  17. Beautiful Summer Dress Ideas You Need To Get Now! says:

[…] Don’t be afraid to go for a bold color summer dress style. I usually stay away from very bright colors but when I saw this blue turquoise dress at Express I knew I had to try it. What also attracted me to this dress was the beautiful back straps. Who doesn’t want to show off a gorgeous back, right ladies? This dress has been on a heavy rotation for me for the past 2 years and I can’t stop wearing it. It makes me feel so light and breezy and that’s the best summer vibe I look for in a dress. I wore this dress to a recent event at the St. Lawrence Market called Summer Series which took place on the St. Lawrence Market patio. It was the perfect summer event with great food, drinks and entertainment. Check out my review of it here! […]

  18. Niki Bozionelou says:
