Along with the change in temperature comes a new set of issues that can come up for your skin. In many places, winter can be a cold, dry misery on the skin. It can sap out hydration and leave your skin feeling flaky or chapped. We’re going to take a look at a few different options to help keep your skin in top-notch shape. No matter how cold it is outside. If you follow these simple and easy steps you’ll have beautiful wintertime skin.

Sunscreen

Just because it’s cold outside, it doesn’t mean the sun isn’t shining. It’s very important to continue using sunscreen even during the winter months. If you live in especially dry winter conditions, you may want to opt for a moisturizer sunscreen combination. This can give your skin a boost and keep it from drying out and becoming uncomfortable. Olay makes some sunscreen-moisturizer combination products that are highly regarded. This might be a good starting option if you’re unsure about where to look.

Moisturizer is important all year round, but it can be especially useful during dry winter months. It doesn’t take long for the lack of moisture in the air to begin having negative effects on your skin. In some cases, you may need to get extra moisture so that your skin is able to keep a healthy glow. It’s important to stay hydrated in general but this can also have a positive effect on your skin. Therefore it’s a good idea to not only use a great moisturizer but to also drink plenty of water.

Typically you may want to avoid adding too much oil onto your skin. This is especially true if your skin is already prone to overproduction of oil. But in the winter months, it may be a good idea to switch to an oil-based moisturizer. These types of moisturizers are usually better to lock in moisture. Moisture is so important especially when you want to have beautiful wintertime skin.

Gloves and scarves

Many people tend to forget the skin on your neck and hands can be just as prone to the effects of cold winter air as the skin on your face. It’s important to not only take care of these areas, but also keep them protected while you’re out in the cold. Gloves can be excellent for keeping your hands warm, comfortable and protected. Dry hand skin can be uncomfortable on its own but it becomes worse when you need to work with your hands.

Scarves can keep the skin on your neck well protected. It’s important because this sensitive area can be especially prone to wrinkles and other signs of aging. Premature skin aging can be sped along by rough weather conditions. Keeping the cold air and the sun off your neck in winter can go a long way towards ensuring your skin stays supple and smooth. As you’re taking care of other areas, also make sure you don’t forget the skin on your feet. During winter your feet can take quite a lot of wear and tear.

Lips and hand care

In a similar vein, it’s important to find products that can moisturize your hands. Luckily, there are a vast number of products out there that are designed to soften and protect your hands without leaving a greasy residue. They come in many different varieties including fragrance free. These days many people are sensitive to strong scents or have allergies. So it’s best to first test a fragrance free product. When looking for good quality hand creams keep your eye out on products that contain Borage oil. Borage oil is especially known to be an excellent source of gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA) that is an important OMEGA-6 fatty acid. This acid is vital for healthy skin. You can try the ShiKai Borage Therapy Dry Skin Lotion, which is enriched with this wonderful oil.

Your lips are also going to be very susceptible to the cold winter air. If you don’t have a quality lip balm, they can quickly become dry and chapped. This can become very uncomfortable and even painful. A lip balm like those made by Lip Struck can be a great choice to protect your lips. They come in a multitude of flavors to suit many tastes. They’re also made from all-natural ingredients to add to their list of benefits.

Humidifier

Using a humidifier in your home can give your skin a safe refuge from the dry outside air where it can regain some moisture. This is an easy way to ensure beautiful skin during winter months. There are a number of humidifiers on the market today, giving you a wide range of prices and aesthetics to choose from. The Air Innovations digital humidifier, for example, comes in at a budget-friendly price and can add moisture to the air in your home without being an eyesore.

Conclusion

All these tips are great ways to keep your skin looking and feeling healthy during the cold winter months. It is especially helpful in a dry cold climate where your skin needs to be protected and moisturized so that it can easily maintain itself. This will help you avoid painful chapped lips as well as itchy, dry skin on your hands and face. Following these easy steps will ensure that you have beautiful wintertime skin.

Overall, the idea is to keep your skin protected when you’re outside and give it a place of refuge inside where it can be comfortable and hydrated. Of course, it’s always important to listen to your skin and make sure you don’t overdo it with any of the options listed here.
